Where is Northern Vineyards located?
We are located in historic Downtown Stillwater. Our address is 223 Main Street North. We are located on the river side of Main Street about 2 blocks north of the bridge.
How much does the wine tasting cost?
Wine tasting is $5 per person and is applied toward a purchase of wine or merchandise. During special events the tasting fee may not be refundable and will be posted as such under the event on our website.
Do I need a reservation to come in and sample the wines?
Reservations are NOT required to come in and sample our wines. Wine tasting is available any time that we are open. We do ask that groups of 10 or more call in advance to alert our staff that you are coming in to sample. This gives us an opportunity to be well prepared and fully staffed.
Do I need a reservation if I have a Living Social certificate?
No, you do not. This was a misprint on the certificates. We only ask larger groups to give us a "heads up" if they are coming. Otherwise, you may come in during any of our store hours for wine tasting.
How many wines can we sample?
You may taste up to ten (10) wines.
What types and styles of wines does Northern Vineyards make?
We make white, blush, red and dessert wine. Our wines range from very dry to sweet. Go to our Wine page for the latest selection of wines available.
How long is Northern Vineyards open?
We are open year round, seven days a week. We are closed on New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Our hours are November - April 10am-6pm Daily (including Sundays) - May - October Monday - Thursday 10am-8pm; Friday - Sunday 10am-9pm
Can I order the wines and have them shipped?
Yes. You may call and order or you can order our wines online from our website. We cannot ship to every state. The rules and regulations for out of state shipping are always changing. We will process orders within 3 days. Shipping may take up to 5 business days, depending on the location.
Do you do tours at the winery?
Yes, we do tours of our winery. We require a minimum of 10 people for a tour and it must be scheduled at least one week in advance. Tours are $10 per person. This includes the tour, tasting and a Northern Vineyards logo wine glass.
Do you host private parties?
Yes, we do private parties for groups of 12 or more. The parties are either on our deck (weather permitting) or inside our barrel room. We can accommodate groups up to 50 persons. Our facility is a wonderful place to host bachelorette parties, birthdays, grooms dinners, small intimate receptions and corporate events. Can I get a personalized bottle of wine?
Yes, we offer personalized labels on some of our wines. We can write up to three lines and 28 characters per line. This makes a perfect gift for a wedding, birthday or other special event. Please call for more information. We ask that all orders are placed at least one (1) day in advance.
When do you have live music?
We have live music May-September each year. Music is on Sunday nights from 7-9 on our deck (weather permitting) or in our barrel room. Most shows are free, however there are a few each summer that are ticketed. Ticket prices range from $5-$10 per ticket. We have all different genres of music performed here, from jazz and blues to mellow acoustic guitar. Check our Event page for more information.
How long is the deck open?
Our deck overlooking the St. Croix River is open any time that guests would like to enjoy it. Very occasionally it is reserved for a private party, so you may call in advance to check availability.
Do you have a restaurant?
No we do not have a restaurant. However, when the weather is nice customers can bring in a picnic style meal and enjoy it on our deck overlooking the St. Croix River. We do require that people heading up to our deck purchase a glass or bottle of wine. We also offer Summit and Grain Belt along with non-alcoholic beverages for enjoying on the deck.
Do you have vineyards on site?
No, we do not have vineyards on site. We are a grower owned cooperative. Our vineyards are scattered throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. Our growers are member-owners of the winery. They grow the grapes on their property and bring them to us. Everything else is done on site here.
When is the harvest season?
We harvest the grapes from mid-August through mid-October.
How many bottles of wine do you produce?
We are the largest locally produced winery in the state of Minnesota. We produce between 75,000-100,000 bottles of wine a year.
Can I purchase the wine anywhere besides the winery?
Yes, we distribute our wines throughout Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin.
